  Celebrating women in the community

Again this year, LeKAC supported our exciting day for our special women in Toronto. The bags that you provided were absolutely perfect. Not only did they provide a way for us to package donated personal care products for each of our guests, but they will be reused for day to day purposes by
them also.

March 6 brought an early taste of spring to the city, and hundreds of women to the 11th Annual International Women’s Day event held at John Innes Community Centre.

Together with A.I.S. (Accommodation Information and Support Inc.), CAMH and other community partners and agencies hosted the annual event celebrating International Women’s Day. The day offers women a chance to celebrate their strength, talents and accomplishments in a fun and safe environment. After a huge buffet lunch, the women enjoyed music, dancing, entertainment and prizes.

CAMH and A.I.S. have been long time partners in this event providing staff time and cash donations. Organizers secure funding, volunteers, donations and manage the logistics on the day.

PCMA member Rebecca Alexander was pleased to volunteer again this year. Last year Rebecca brought her teenaged daughter and a few friends to work as volunteers. The girls were impressed by the community involvement and the dignified direct support offered to women. When Rebecca and her family sat down this past December to decide which organizations they’d support in the coming year, her daughter insisted that they donate to CAMH.
